Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced SQL System Engineer/Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in the sector due to the complexity and various procedures involved.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, administer, maintain, and manage the global Microsoft SQL service infrastructure on Windows and Linux environments.
• Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of the Global Microsoft SQL service environment.
• Develop and maintain configurations, deployment and maintenance utilities, documentation, procedures, and practices.
• Define and maintain capacity and disaster recovery plans and facilities.
• Coordinate, administer, and perform Microsoft SQL services installations, configurations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Develop Microsoft SQL service deployment, support, and maintenance procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within the server operating system, MS SQL service, applications, affiliated software, and Data Center Infrastructure.
• Manage incident resolution within defined SLAs and ensure proper escalation procedures are followed.
• Assist project and architecture teams in understanding MS SQL service and server requirements.
• Utilize and maintain software tools to monitor and manage Microsoft SQL service systems, capacity, and performance.
• Perform system testing and regulatory validations of the Microsoft SQL service environment.
• Stay informed about new technologies and suggest improvements or new implementations.

Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years of demonstrated work experience in Microsoft SQL Servers Environment.
• More than 2 years of experience in the design, implementation, and support of OS/DB/application servers/services (Windows, Linux, MS SQL Always-on, MS SQL Backup).
• Experience in a regulated and process-focused computing environment preferred.
• Experience in hardware (VMware) and software virtualization (AppV) preferred.
• Some experience in Azure SQL PaaS.

Specific Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL and SQL components, cluster, Always-on, services, protocols, and technologies.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems and components.
• Strong diagnostic and analytical skills with a proactive, detail-oriented focus.
• Effective communication skills in both written and verbal English and French.
• Customer service-focused with a problem-solving mindset.

Key Performance Indicators:

• No unplanned business downtime resulting from MS SQL systems deployments and updates.
• Global Microsoft SQL systems configurations established and deployed correctly the first time.
• 100% adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Compliance with all required regulatory processes and procedures.

Priorities within the Next Two Years:

• Assist with the deployment of projects requiring MS SQL.
• Assist with the deployment of a global MS SQL solution and consolidation project.
• Assist with the deployment of global SQL patch management.
• Assist with the definition and implementation of MS SQL global computing standards and processes.
• Assist with the implementation of global MS SQL standard proactive system monitoring triggers.
